The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has made Shakib Al Hasan the new captain of the Bangladesh test team.
Mushfiqur Rahim, who had served as a test model since 2011, was removed from his main post, according to BCB’s decision. It has not yet been determined whether Mushfiq will be able to maintain his position as a wicketkeeper drummer.
The BCB made the announcement after a meeting on Sunday.
In addition, the vice president of Captain Tamim Iqbal has been replaced by Mahmudullah, added the BCB.
Mushfiqur’s position as a test captain has been unstable since Bangladesh’s disastrous tour of South Africa, where the Tigers lost both trial matches and three one-day international matches. Coach Chandika Haturusingha resigned after the tour.
Mushfiq led the Bangladesh team in all three formats before Mashrafe bin Mortaza led the one-day and T-20 teams.
Shakib, the most famous of all time, recently replaced Mashrafe as captain of the T20 earlier this year.
